What better way to think about internal dialogue/character thoughts than through captioning silly photos! After hosting a caption contest, students learned how to weave these thoughts into narrative writing.

Roald Dahl’s “Great Mouse Plot” helped reinforce narrative techniques for craft and elaboration.
- Show, don’t tell (especially for emotions)
- Use adjectives to describe nouns
- Incorporate figurative language and similes
- Include internal dialogue/thoughts
